A sad Baxter after leaving Embassy

“In these past few years the relationship between our countries has grown a lot”, said the former American Ambassador Frank Baxter, after evaluating his work. He emphasized the signing of the Bilateral Investment Treaty (TIFA) and the scientific and educational cooperation.
 
Baxter (...) left his post on January 20 when the elected president Barack Obama became the new US president. The new head of the United States Embassy in Uruguay is Robin Matthewman.
 
“The new president has the right to choose. I really like Uruguay and it’s very sad to leave” he said. Nevertheless, he will keep working as a “private citizen” to carry out some educational projects he started and also to attract more investments to the country. “In the words of my friend Arnold Schwarzenegger ‘I’ll be back’ ".
 
Baxter also said that “nothing is enough”, when asked about the commercials treaties achieved and announced a growth in the bilateral relationship. (…) “The new government will see that the relationship with Uruguay is important”.
